The difference between a psychic and a medium and why the distinction between
the two is very important
Have you ever felt the need to consult a psychic to tell you something about
yourself? You might be going through tough times in the present and you don’t
understand what lead you to experience this in the present. You might not be
aware of something that might have happened in the past and only someone dear to
you can help explain what must have happened in the past. Or you might want to
know what the future holds for you as an effect of what you are going through in
the present. Should you consult a psychic or a medium?
Before consulting a psychic or a medium, it is important to know the difference
between the two. Not all psychics have both abilities of being both a psychic
and a medium. If you are lucky, there are quite a number of people who possess
both abilities of being a psychic and a medium but it all still depends on their
“gift” or specialization. A medium can possibly see the future through the
spirits so he/she is technically not a fortune teller but he/she has the ability
to communicate to spirits who are able to relay this kind of information. There
are a lot of factors to be considered before contacting a psychic or a medium.
If a person wants to know what is going on in his or her life, he/she should
contact
psychic advisors.
If a person wants to talk to a deceased, he/she should contact a medium.
A normal person receives, gathers, and processes information using the five
senses (sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste) and of course our brain. Having
psychic abilities means having an extra sense which is used to retrieve
information and have a clear insight on people, events, or situations that goes
beyond the five senses. A psychic and a medium both have a sixth sense but there
is a difference in their abilities and in what they can do to help a person gain
spiritual guidance or knowledge.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PSYCHIC AND A MEDIUM
ABILITIES: A psychic can see through the past, present, and future. A psychic
may have one or more of the following abilities: clairvoyance (ability to
perceive things or events in the future), clairaudience (ability to perceive
words or sounds from outside sources in the spirit world), clairsentience
(ability to feel the past, present, or future emotional and physical states), or
claircognizance (ability to acquire
psychic knowledge).
A medium has the ability to communicate with a divine source (deceased, angels, spirit guides, ascended masters, etc). A medium facilitates a connection between someone here and a spirit on the other side
.
SIXTH-SENSE: A psychic gets information regarding people and events from the
vibrational energy or aura that he/she gets from a person, place, or thing.
A medium gets information by talking to spirits. A medium may get information on
the past, present, and future but it all depends on the information that the
spirit will give.
Every medium possesses psychic ability but not all psychics have the ability to
be a medium.
TOOLS: A psychic uses tools such as tarot cards, astrological charts, and may
also read through palms.
A medium communicates with the dead through descriptions of images and
information. A medium can get messages or information from the spirit world in a
lot of forms: visual images or symbols, auditory messages, or even physical
sensations.
Some mediums receive information by getting mental images or words. Some mediums
may hear actual voices or auditory messages. Sometimes, they can even see actual
images of these messages that the dead want to relay. There can also be times
when a spirit may directly relay the messages to the guests at the event by
using the medium. During this time, the medium enters into a trance-like state.
It’s also possible that a medium may be completely awake and fully aware while
passing the messages from the spirit to the guests. This is what is usually
conveyed in horror movies such as “Insiduous”.
PREDICTIONS: As mentioned earlier, a psychic can see the past, present, and
future by reading the energy he/she gets from a person, place, or object.
A medium can also be able to see the past, present, and future through the
spirit but it is not always the case. It all depends on the spirit. It depends
whether the spirit would reveal this kind of information to the medium. It is
the ability of the spirit to see the past, present, and future and not the
medium’s ability. The medium just conveys the message that the spirit wants to
reveal to someone right here.
OVERLAP IN ABILITIES: A psychic perceives information by reading the vibrational
energy that he/she gets from a person, object, or place. A medium receives
information by connecting and linking their energy with the spirit world. A
medium has psychic abilities and uses these as tools to connect with the spirits
and relay information to their clients.
As mentioned earlier, note that every medium has psychic abilities but not every
psychic has medium abilities. It just shows that being a medium is a higher
degree in psychic development. Another fact related to this is that mediums
charge higher compared to psychics.
LEVEL OF COMFORT: Each psychic or medium may have specific preferences or levels
of comfort ability in which they work. Psychics may easily feel comfortable
receiving information through the
vibrational energy that they are getting from themselves or from
their clients while mediums may take time in attaining this level of comfort and
may need to hone some abilities before they are able to communicate with
spirits.
CREDIBILITY: Mediums are generally perceived to be more credible than psychics.
Because of the idea of afterlife that is widely believed and accepted in most
religions, talking with spirits may seem more valid as compared to predicting
the future by reading astrological signs, palms, or tarot cards.
CONCLUSION
All mediums are psychics but not all psychics are mediums. Choosing whether to
consult a psychic or a medium depends on how you want to achieve spiritual
guidance after learning the difference between the two.
