Noreen
enjoys this day trip to Chartres Cathedral. To experience
this Gothic wonder has been on my 'to do' list for
decades.

In
the depth of Chartres Cathedral, where Jim and I meditate
after we each lit a candle (which can be seen here
if you know where to look). I took this photo with
no flash in a really dark area. Thank you Photoshop!

Here
I am standing in the center of the magnificent Chartres
Cathedral Labyrinth. Unfortunately, I cannot walk
the whole labyrinth since the 'powers that be' decided
to attach together the rows of chairs so they can't
be easily moved by those of us who would like to experience
the pilgrimage-like walk this famous labyrinth would
otherwise eagerly allow. Ah, so be it!, However, simply
standing in the center of 'the real thing' is worth
the trip.

The
gorgeous Rose Window at Chartres Cathedral. As I shoot
this photo, I really don't expect it to come out very
well due to lack of good lighting in the church. So,
happy I am to have come up with this pretty neat rendition.

Chartres
Cathedral abounds with astoundingly beautiful stained
glass windows. Here is another of my favorites.

This
I could not resist! It's a garbage can on the outside
wall of Chartres Cathedral (note "Cathe"
as an abbreviation), filled to the rim with burned
out votive candles on their way to being recycled.
Wow! is there a message here?

This
is how the Olde Towne of Chartres still looks today
... quaint as can be.

This
enigmatic maze, or whatever it is, sits below in the
Chartres Cathedral gardens. Everything about it makes
me feel like I'm about to fly off somewhere.

This
is the day my favorite emerald green jacket had it's
own adventure. After lunch in the town of Chartres,
Jim and I decided to hike around and see the sights.
I stuffed my jacket on the side of my backpack. After
about an hour of exploring, Jim remarks, "You're
jacket's gone!" In near panic we do our best
to retrace our steps in the unlikely hope of finding
my precious warm jacket. Then Viola! just as we had
about given up hope, Jim yells, "There it is!"
My jacket is blowing around, about ready to fly onto
the main road. We run like crazy till I manage to
snatch it up in my arms like a long-lost friend ...
but not before I took this photo.
